Microsoft Surface Pro 9 An old friend with a new filling. Price: from $1000

Microsoft has officially announced the replenishment of its arsenal of tablets with a new device from the Surface Pro line. This is the ninth model of a tablet convertible into a laptop, which, depending on the configuration, is based on Intel or ARM processors.

Last year’s Surface Pro 8 brought new features such as Thunderbolt 4 and a 120Hz display. This year’s model received the expected chipset upgrade, with either a 12th Gen Intel processor or an SQ 3 ARM chip with 5G support. The SQ chip was previously used in the 2020 Surface Pro X, so it’s not exactly groundbreaking. There is also support for the 6GHz Wi-Fi band in some countries.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 9 is very similar to its predecessor except for the processor. It features a 13-inch PixelSense display with a 120Hz refresh rate and narrow bezels. Microsoft claims an improved Full HD webcam with 4 degrees of tilt to keep you centered in its field of view. The device is also available in new colors such as Sapphire, Forest and Liberty London Special Edition.

The new tablet is compatible with the Surface Keyboard and Slim Pen 2, sold separately.

The Intel version has up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1 TB SSD. The ARM version received half the amount of RAM and storage. The ARM model is also missing two USB-C/Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, which have been replaced with two USB-C 3.2 connectors. On the other hand, the 5G model boasts of being able to provide up to 19 hours of battery life.

The Intel version starts at $999 for the Core i5 model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Microsoft Surface Pro 9 ARM 5G starts at $1,300 with similar specs.
