This year, the Taiwanese company MediaTek decided to impose Qualcomm’s fight on the mobile processor market with support for fifth-generation networks. The American giant Qualcomm continues to lead, but in some segments MediaTek is very serious competition for it. Yesterday, the premiere of the MediaTek Dimensity 720 5G processor with support for fifth generation mobile networks took place.
The CPU has two 2.0 GHz Cortex-A76 cores and six identical Cortex-A55 cores. Responsible for the graphics accelerator ARM Mali-G57 MC3. The novelty supports displays with a resolution of up to 2520 x 1080 pixels with a frame rate of 90 Hz and HDR10 + standard.
In smartphones on MediaTek Dimensity 720 5G, we will see cameras with a resolution of up to 64 megapixels. The platform itself is focused on the mid-budget price segment. It is also worth noting support for UFS 2.1 drives and LPDDR4x RAM with a maximum volume of 12 GB.
The MediaTek Dimensity 720 5G has a modem with support for SA and NSA, a dual-band GPS module, Wi-Fi wireless adapters with support for a 5 GHz frequency range and Bluetooth 5.1. The first smartphones will appear in the fall. It is already known that the new processor will be used by Huawei, OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi.
